CFBCountdown.com is a live countdown site covering all 138 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) college football programs for the 2026 season. Every team in the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, American Conference, Pac-12, Mountain West, Sun Belt, Conference USA, MAC, and the FBS independent programs (Notre Dame and UConn) has its own dedicated countdown page, themed in that program's official colors.

Each team page features a real-time countdown — updating every second — to that team's next game, a complete 2026 season schedule, and cross-links to every opponent's own countdown page. This creates a web of 138 interconnected team pages that covers the complete FBS landscape, allowing fans to follow their team's opponents as easily as their own program.

How the Countdown Works

The live countdown on each team page calculates the exact number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds until the team's next scheduled game. The countdown uses JavaScript running in your browser and updates every second without requiring a page refresh. When a game date passes, the countdown automatically advances to the following game on the schedule.

The Sleeps toggle switches the display from the standard days/hours/minutes/seconds format to a "sleeps until game day" count — the number of nights between now and the next kickoff. This is a fan-friendly alternative that gives a simpler sense of how far away the next game is.

2026 Conference Alignments

The 2026 season features significant conference realignment that we've incorporated into every team page:

• Pac-12 rebuilt: Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Utah State (from Mountain West) and Texas State (from Sun Belt) joined Oregon State and Washington State in the rebuilt Pac-12.
• Mountain West changes: UTEP joined from Conference USA; Northern Illinois joined from the MAC; North Dakota State (FCS powerhouse) joined as a football-only member; Hawaii became a full member.
• MAC: Lost Northern Illinois; gained UMass (returning from independence) and Sacramento State (FCS transition).
• Sun Belt: Lost Texas State to the Pac-12; Louisiana Tech situation ongoing.
• Independents: Notre Dame and UConn remain the only FBS independents.

CFBCountdown.com uses 2026 schedule data sourced from team athletic departments, conference offices, and sports data aggregators. Many 2026 schedules are confirmed well in advance for non-conference games, while full conference schedules are released each spring. Where complete schedules are not yet announced, we note games as TBA and update as information becomes available. Fans should verify game times and locations directly with their team's athletic department, as kickoff times are often not finalized until several weeks before each game.

Cross-Linking
